In Singida, Tanzania

Hello everyone, my first post while here, internet VERY slow, but will try keep at it. I'm in town every Friday night shopping for the weeks shopping, so hopefully update it then if it's up and running.

Just a quick thanks to Dan K & B and Kate, got your messages.
And thanks to Josh for his update on Facebook.

I'm surprised i got here, the bus journey here was one to remember, roads you couldn't even comprehend in Briton. I already have loads of stories, i don't even know where to begin.

I have not started on the Volunteering yet, currently staying in a Salvation Army Hostel in Singida (sing-gee-da) while they teach me Kiswahili and about the culture of the tribes here. Everyone is so friendly but doesn't stop me from feeling nervous around them.

Culture shock is a lot more extreme than i thought, i don't really know what i expected, but even in Dubai, it was fascinating to see such a different world they live in in comparison to us! The other shock is the state of living and the extremes i have to go to to keep health... poverty has really hit me in the face, but i do get the impression that things are being done about it, on the 12 hour journey inland i could see a lot of new buildings being developed, but without any health and safety rules, things are just comical!!!

Anyway, not on for long this time, but will get back soon. Best wishes to all, and i send my love from Tanzania, i start in my Village, Mghumbu (M-goom-boo) on Saturday.

Hey Luke XXXXXXXXXXX How cool it is to see my first born doing something so amazing! I have been opening your blog every day since you left, im not sure what i was expecting to see but am SO F**king excited to read your 1st blog. Judging by how Dad describes it out there you just confirm his sentiments. If nothing it will make you appreciate the life you have here. I can see you joining UNICEF or some similar organisation. Something I've often thought about.

I am so glad we had our joint party the weekend before you left as it has left me with some treasured memories, its not often we can party ALL weekend it was good to see all your old mates back fom Uni and of course new aquaintances. Loved meeting Pete, I hope all is well with him please send my regards. The band were amazing and certainly made the night for me (thankfully we didnt seem to upset the neighbours!)am looking forward to welcoming them back for our New Year Eve's party perhaps we can do a joint 1 again? Lisa did enjoy the company of young Adam and Paul who i think are now scarred for life!

Life goes on here Jasmin has started year 9 at the upper site of St P's, she looks so grown up! will add some photo's when i get a chance. Dad is picking up the Road King on Saturday so he is excited, trying to find a way of keeping the Z3 but dont think i can justify it!

Not sure if i told you i bought a double base for Dad's birthday it,s quite sexy all black with a white trim and very curvacious cant wait to hear him play, think he's hoping to create a band!

Also, you know I've been wanting to open a gallery I've stumbled upon a shop to let on the main drag in Pokesdown, not a celubrious area but its a start and the rent is affordable. will let you know more when i have done more research.

Anyway my darling can't wait for your next entry so glad to know you are safe. Am so proud of you Mum xxxxxx
